Is San Francisco a family friendly city

USA trip with children - With the family through America

What to watch out for when you're out and about

In the land of unlimited possibilities, there are a few things to consider. Some points that are directly related to a motorhome trip can be found here listed and explained in detail. Points such as “toll stations” or “credit cards” are described in the following section.

  • First night in the hotel: Due to the regulations for renting mobile homes, it is necessary to book a hotel room for the first night. The big metropolises, especially the hilly San Francisco, are better to explore without a large motorhome anyway.
  • Credit Card: A credit card is essential when traveling in the states. As a rule, deposits must be made for the motorhome and also for hotels or campsites. It is best to choose a credit card that includes free bookings abroad and, ideally, travel cancellation insurance, such as the TUI Card
  • Cash: Even if most of the payments in the USA are made by credit card, you will always need change: you need cash for tips, toll stations or laundromats!
  • Toll station: At most stations there is a lane for oversized cars. This is usually on the right-hand side.
  • Saving in the supermarket: ask for a bonus card. Many supermarkets offer bonus cards with which you can save a lot.
